The recent loss of life trying to visit the Titanic in a Bud Light can is unfortunate. We are never happy about loss of life, well, unless it is somebody that kills other people, say Dahmer, or Bin Laden.
Keshig are data driven, and the vast majority are divers with lots of hyperbaric pressure experience, and even vaster experience in calculating high risk ventures.
It’s never too soon to do a “hot wash” meaning a critical review of what went wrong and why. Keshig improve through self assessment as well as critical assessment of the world. Every drama offers a chance to learn.
In the case of the inappropriately named “Titan” underwater vehicle, very few qualified underwater experts would consider it anything beyond experimental. In one lawsuit it is claimed the CEO noted safety was a waste of time.
Reasonable emergency response protocols were clearly missing. Counting on the Coast Guard to assemble and deploy a recovery operation is silly. To date, Keshig nation dive experts have reported being shocked at the equipment and plan.
There is a larger question of why some fabulously wealthy non expert guys would want to visit the Titanic? The entire endeavor appears to be a status seeking move by inadequate types to prove they are cool. Reminds me of the old Carly Simon song “You’re so Vain.” Imagine the lives that could have been changed with that money. The universe measures us all by what we give, not what we get.
Another questionable facet about this event is why the public is so excited about some silly rich guys doing dumb shit. The Russians are cutting the balls off Ukrainians with pen knives, we are teetering on brink of global war, and the masses are focused on a tin can imploding over a ship that sank.
Finally there is the question of who is responsible to pay for foolish decisions. If you want to be stupid, that’s ok, but I don’t think I should have to pay for it if the event was voluntary and you are an adult.
Keshig love risk and are exceptional at real world risk management when no other substances are involved. Smart risk moves the ball forward for our species. Dumb risk sets us back.
Do a max set of 8 counts RFN because if you had a billion dollars you would build something useful and not piss away the money on extreme dickless adventures.
